About the Participants
Storms Reback, his son Zephyr, and Storms’ partner Nissa are the proud managers of an urban farm in Austin, Texas.
Storms has written two books, All In: The (Almost) Entirely True Story of the World Series of Poker with Jonathan Grotenstein, which made the New York Times Editor’s Choice list in January 2006, and Farha on Omaha with Sam Farha. He believes his desire to distance himself from the greater market economy is a reaction to all the years he spent in the sordid world of professional poker. After attending the 2007 Natural Building Colloquium, he now professes to be something of an expert at building with cob.
A recent convert to farm life, Nissa specializes in cutting burlap sacks, watering the garden, employing recycled glass, and organizing scavenging trips.
Zephyr is not quite five years old but can already count to a million and do the entire alphabet in sign language. His main jobs are weeding the garden and collecting the chickens’ eggs each day.
